Use
Lupron Depot-PED ® (leuprolide acetate depot suspension) 7.5 mg, 11.25 mg and 15 mg for the treatment of children with central precocious puberty (CPP). Doctors can diagnose children with CPP, when the signs of puberty in girls begin to develop before the age of 8 or boys aged 9 years. Doctors will perform tests to rule out possible causes of CPP, which require different treatment (eg, tumors).
Your child should not receive Lupron Depot, if it is or may become pregnant, or breastfeeding. The increase in the signs and symptoms of puberty in the first few weeks of treatment may occur. Health care provider should contact if the child menstrual bleeding that continues after the second month of treatment, or other unusual signs or symptoms. If your child misses or gets shot him a week later, pubertal symptoms your child may begin again. Studies in children have not been completed to see if fertility is suppressed completely the opposite.
Lupron Depot‑PED Works
Lupron Depot-PED is a class of drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa). This drug is similar to the hormone naturally made by your body, called GnRH. Lupron Depot-PED is working to help stop your child’s body from making too much of certain hormones that cause puberty. Stopping the production of these hormones to a more appropriate time in the life of your child’s puberty delay.
Lupron Depot after starting therapy-PED, your child may experience increased signs and symptoms of CPP during the first few weeks of treatment. Then, your child will stop doing some of the hormones and you can see the pubertal changes stop, and they may be even less obvious. You should tell your doctor if your child has a menstrual period, which extends beyond the second month of treatment, is irritation at the injection site, is developing a mood or behavioral changes, or has any other unusual signs or symptoms.

Missed injections
It is important to maintain the planned injection site so that your child may have the right amount of Lupron Depot-PED in his or her body at all times. The absence of even a single dose or get him or her a shot a week later can restart the process of puberty.
Dosage
Lupron Depot-PED is administered into a muscle every 4 weeks.
Your response to the child Lupron Depot-PED should be monitored 1-2 months after starting therapy to determine if his or her current dose at the right level. You should know that your doctor should also measure your child’s bone age every 6-12 months.
It is important to discuss with your doctor for your child if this is the best time to stop the Lupron Depot for your child-PED therapy. It is recommended Lupron Depot-PED therapy should be discontinued prior to 11 years for girls and 12 boys.
Effect of treatment
Lupron Depot C-PED works by stopping the production of certain hormones that your child signs of puberty such as facial hair in boys or breast development in girls, should slow down or stop. While on Lupron Depot-PED, the growth rate of your child will be more like other children the same age.
You should tell your doctor if your child has a menstrual period, which extends beyond the second month of treatment, is irritation at the injection site, is developing a mood or behavioral changes, or has any other unusual signs or symptoms. Studies have not been completed in children to ensure the fertility of suppressed completely the opposite.
Side effects of treatment
It is important to notify your doctor if your child experiences any side effects from the therapy. In clinical trials the most common side effect of Lupron Depot-PED was injection-site reactions 5% of children. It may seem like redness or swelling of skin around a needle.
Other common side effects included general pain, acne, rash and vaginitis / vaginal bleeding or discharge.
Important Safety Information
Your child should not receive Lupron Depot-PED, if he / she has experienced any type of allergic reaction to Lupron Depot, or similar drugs.
Women who are pregnant, breast-feeding, or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding should not receive Lupron Depot-PED.
After starting Lupron Depot-PED therapy, your child may experience increased signs and symptoms of CPP during the first few weeks of treatment.
